For Boys and Girls Grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8th: The Competitive Program is a competitive level of basketball. Teams either participate in the Three Rivers League, play tournaments, or both.
At each grade level there is the possibility of 2 teams of ten players each being formed depending on the number of kids trying out and ability levels. This will
also determine which level of play in leagues and tournaments (Gold/Silver/Bronze division) they enter as a team. Players must tryout in order to be considered for a team. TYBA requires players to participate in at least 1 tryout session, however, we recommend players to make both. If your player cannot
participate at either tryout for medical reasons, you must have a valid medical note from a doctor and provide that information to the respective Competitive VP. Quarantined players are not allowed to attend and must notify TYBA prior to tryout for individual review.
Registration: By registering, you are not guaranteed a spot on a competitive team, players must tryout and make a team.
After tryouts are completed and teams are chosen TYBA will reach out to individual players/family to accept their assigned
position.
Coaches: All of our Competitive coaches must fill out an
application, pass a background check, and be interviewed by our TYBA board. Potential coaches will have a 15 minute interview with the board.
If you are interested in helping us as a coach, registering is the first step. Interviews will take place prior to the scheduled tryouts and once registered
the respective Competitive VP will reach out to schedule an interview date/time.
Competitive practices begin early November 2021
Competitive Fees: Typical costs to play competitive range from about
$350-$600 depending on leagues and tournaments a team enters. There is the TYBA registration cost of $125, uniform cost of $110, league registration if applicable, tournament fees and any travel/lodging costs if playing in any out of
town tournaments.
Season: Each team plays between 25 and 40 games, depending on grade and the types of tournaments selected by the team's coach.
